🌏 From Hong Kong to Sydney: Harmony House Participates in the 5th World Conference of Women's Shelters (5WCWS)
Harmony House was honored to be invited as one of Hong Kong's representatives to attend the 5th World Conference of Women's Shelters (WSC5), held in Sydney, Australia from September 15 to 18, 2025.
The conference brought together delegates from over 60 countries including shelter professionals, scholars, advocates, and social service workers, to exchange experiences and innovative ideas.
Harmony House was represented by Ms. Mandy Chan, Supervisor of the Shelter for Women and Children, and Ms. Second Wong, Assistant Supervisor.
As the world’s largest international conference focused on the protection and prevention of violence against women, WSC5 was held on an unprecedented scale: 204 speakers, 107 presentations, 60 concurrent forums, and 12 keynote speeches.
The event explored systematic approaches to ending violence against women and their children, and enhancing the safety, independence, and empowerment of survivors worldwide.
Harmony House presented on the theme “From Safety to Healing”, sharing insights into the evolving landscape of shelter services. The presentation emphasized trauma-informed care, child-centered approaches, and evidence-based practices, aiming to support women and children in rebuild lives of dignity and hope.
